Howard
G.
Brickner

HOWARD G. BRICKNER to Ethel and William E. Brickner on November 22, 1915. His father was working as a streetcar conductor for Public Service when he registered for the draft in June of 1917. The family then lived at 1224 Chase Street. By January of 1920 they had moved to 1605 Louis Street, and William Brickner had been appointed to the Camden Police Department. Besides Mr. and Mrs. Brickner and son Howard, there were three other children- older brother William, and younger siblings Elmer and Helen. By 1927 the Brickners had moved to 1244 Everett Street, where they remained into 1929. The 1930 Census found the family at 1328 Sheridan Street.

William E. Brickner was still a Camden Police officer as late as the fall of 1934. By the spring of 1942 he had retired on a police pension. The family had moved to 1246 Dayton Street.

Howard Brickner was drafted into the United States Army at Camden, New Jersey on September 16, 1942. He had completed one year of high school before going to work. When he was inducted, Howard Brickner was already married.

Howard Brickner is not listed in the 1947 Camden City Directory, but he had moved back by 1950. He was appointed to Camden Fire Department on January 13, 1951, and reported for duty three weeks later.

Howard Brickner's mother Ethel is listed in the New Jersey Bell Telephone Company's 1970 Directory at 1264 Decatur Street. He may have been living with here, records currently at hand are inconclusive. Ethel Brickner died in June of 1971.

After serving the City of Camden for over 27 years, Howard Brickner retired on March 1, 1978. He later resided at 114 Woodlawn Avenue in Collingswood, New Jersey. Last a resident of Mount Ephraim, New Jersey, Howard Brickner died on June 4, 1983.
