PRIVATE WILLIAM F. DONEHOWER, 27, of 238 Virginia Avenue, Westmont NJ, was killed in action on December 4, 1944 during the assault on Wingen in France.

William Donehower was born in Pleasantville NJ in 1917, He graduated from Pleasantville High School and attended college for one year. His father, Charles Donehower, was a well known architect with an office in Camden NJ. He worked at the Philadelphia Navy Yard prior to entering the Army in January of 1944. He went overseas in July of that year. William Donehower was separated from his wife, with dependents, when he entered service,

Private Donehower served with Company C, 39th Infantry Regiment, 100th Infantry Division. Also serving with that unit was Technical Sergeant William Smerhovsky, of Camden NJ. Sergeant Smerhovsky was killed in action on November 22, 1944 during the capture of Senones, France.
