PRIVATE JOSEPH C. KOBBY was born Joseph C. Koberstine, on June 10, 1920 in Gloucester City NJ. He attended Gloucester High School. Joseph Kobby enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in December of 1941, after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Private Kobby was killed while serving with the 1st Marine Division during the fighting at Cape Gloucester, New Britain on January 6, 1944. He was survived by his parents, Charles and Ava Kobersteine, of 204 Nicholson Road, in the Gloucester Heights section of Gloucester City NJ. 

Joseph Kobby was brought home to New Jerey after the war. He ws buried at beverly Cemetery in Beverly NJ on February 18, 1949.
