PRIVATE FIRST CLASS OLIVER F. STARR JR. was killed in accident while serving with an engineer unit in Italy, early in 1945. A 1937 graduate of Haddon heights High School, he was the the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oliver F. Starr Sr. of 139 Yale Road, Audubon NJ. His father was an engineer, and a member of the Society of Professional Engineers of NJ. After high school, Oliver Starr was employed as a salesman in Philadelphia, before entering the Army in June, 1941. He went overseas in October of 1942, and participated in campaigns in North Africa and Italy. Oliver F. Starr was 25 at the time of his death. Besides his parents, he was survived by his twin sister Mary, and another sister, Mrs. Janice McKey. His father passed away on October 18, 1949. |
