Camden Fire Department
Fire, Rescue, & Safety Operations
March 15, 2012 - Barbecue at Baird Court

This page and the other pages in this series are the successors to the series of web-page about the Camden Fire Department that began with the page Camden Fire Department: The Fires of the Summer of 2011. On this and other pages in the series you will find pictures and information regarding different events and aspects of the fire service in Camden, New Jersey.

Unseasonably warm weather brought people outside to do yard work and some outdoor cooking. One by product of this was a number of calls by worried residents who smelled smoke. A typical incident of this nature happened on March 15, 2012.

I was in the 2300 block of Howell Street on my way to photographed an abandoned building that was slated for demolition when a call came over the radio at 12:37 PM for 1 Randolph Street, the Baird Court Apartments, just off the Admiral Wilson Boulevard at Westminster Street. I got there literally seconds after Ladder 3 arrived to investigate. I took my first photo at 12:41 PM. The investigation determined that one of the residents had smelled smoke emanating from a neighbor's barbecue at the rear of the property. Units returned to quarters at 12:50 PM.

As with the web page covering other Camden Fire Department events, if you can identify anyone that I've missed, please e-mail me. (I'm terrible at at names and faces).
