Preparing for Fireworks

This page and the other pages in this series are the successors to the series of web-page about the Camden Fire Department called Camden Fire Department: The Fires of the Summer of 2011. On this and other pages in the series you will find pictures and information regarding different events and aspects of the fire service in Camden, New Jersey.

For many years the New Year has been brought in with a fireworks display on the Delaware River between Camden and Philadelphia, in the stretch of river opposite Penn's Landing in Philadelphia and Wiggins Park in Camden. The Camden Fire Department prepared for a possible emergency situation on the river by deploying its rescue craft, MARINE 1 and its new fireboat, the GEORGE M. JACKSON. The small boat depicted below was taken from Liberty Station and put aboard the GEORGE M. JACKSON. Fortunately for all concerned, no problems arose during the show.
