RADARMAN SECOND CLASS MICHAEL DOMINIC CAPPARELLI he attended Camden High School, graduating as member of Camden High School's Class of 1942. He had taken the college preparatory course at Camden High. In his senior year, he was one of the lead actors in a school produced play, "Georgie Porgie". He lived at 1296 Mechanic Street in Camden prior to entering the Navy. 

Michael Capparelli was lost, along with Seaman First Class Nicholas Fondacaro of Blue Anchor in Winslow Township NJ,  when their ship, the USS Underhill (DE-682) was sunk by Japanese human torpedo northeast of Luzon, Philippine Islands, 24 July 1945. Both men were killed in the initial explosion when the torpedo struck. For more about the USS Underhill, click on the link below.

Michael Capparelli was survived by his father, Mr. Giacomo Capparelli, of the Mechanic Street address.
