WILLIAM E. TRUXTON was the son George E. and Rose Truxton, who lived at
different times in Chesterfield Township and in Moorestown in Burlington County.
He was living at 416 North 29th Street in Camden NJ when he registered
for the draft on June 5, 1917. William Truxton later moved to 121 North 21st
Street in East Camden. He had been ill for a year prior to being inducted
on September 20, 1917. Once sent to Camp Dix NJ he was assigned to
Company K, 311th Infantry Regiment. At Camp Dix his illness
progressed, and he wasted quickly. He became so ill that on a visit home
he was unable to return to his unit. William Truxton was removed to the
Camden County Tuberculosis Asylum at Ancora NJ, where he died from
pneumonia and tuberculosis on February 7, 1918, at the age of 21.

Truxton was survived by his parents, brothers George Jr., Frank, John,
Raymond, Norman, and Milton, and sisters E. Mary, Mildred, and Dorothy.
The family was living in Chesterfield NJ in 1920. They later moved to
Pennsauken NJ, where they lived in April of 1930 at 3825 Union Avenue. |
