PRIVATE EMERSON J. KANE
was born in Cambridge, Maryland on December 25, 1895. He was the son
of Louis Kane, who came to Camden at some point after the 1914 City
Directory was compiled. Emerson Kane was living in Philadelphia and
working as a laborer when he registeres for the draft in June of 1917.
Emerson Kane was drafted on January 3, 1918 and sent to Camp Meade MD for training in
the 1st Company, 154th Depot Brigade. He went overseas, assigned to
Company B,
371st Infantry Regiment, 93rd Infantry
Division. Private Kane died of
wounds at the beginning of the Battle of the Argonne Forest on September
28, 1918.
Emerson Kane
had lived with his father, Louis Kane, at 1807 Kossuth Street in Camden
prior to his induction into the Army. A widower, Louis Kane was still
living at at 1807 Kossuth Street in January of 1920.
