HISTORY OF CAMDEN
IN THE GREAT WAR
In 1919, the Camden Publicity and Historical Committee published the above titled book, two copies of which are at the Camden County Historical Society in Camden NJ. Their research listed 134 men and 1 woman from Camden County who gave their lives while in service. A survey of monuments and war memorials in Camden County, which was made in 2002, came up with a few additional personnel.
This book can be downloaded as a PDF file in its entirety by right-clicking here.
Careful research concerning those listed made in 2002 and 2003 revealed that one man listed, Private William Coonrod, was actually from Camden NY, thus was listed in the 1919 book in error. I prefer to think of him as an honored guest.
The following prefaces the chapter entitled RECORDS OF HEROIC DEAD, which is the basis for much of the World War I information found concerning World War I war dead from Camden County NJ. Other sources included newspaper articles, US Census records, and other on-line genealogical sources. Fell free to contact me if you have questions or further information on anyone listed here.
The following is a scan of page 17 of Camden County In The Great War, with information regarding the personnel which they were able to document.
