PRIVATE RALPH A. BAKER was born on October 2, 1923 to Christian C. and Anna K. Baker. His father was a veteran of World War I. The Baker family had lived on Lower Landing Road in Gloucester Township NJ. Ralph Baker enlisted in the United States Army in 1941. He went overseas the following year. 

Private Baker saw action in North Africa and in Italy. He died of causes not relating to combat while serving with an infantry unit in Italy on January 12, 1945. He was 27 years old.

Survived by his parents and brothers William and Christian Baker Jr., Ralph Baker was brought home to New Jersey in the spring of 1949. He was buried at Arlington Cemetery in Pennsauken NJ on June 11, 1949, where today he rests next to his parents.
