PRIVATE FRANCIS D. MYERS was born in Camden NJ in 1925. His father, John S. Myers, was a crane operator for a dredging company, most likely the American Dredging Company in Camden. His mother, Anna Myers, had two sons from a previous marriage, Lewis and Isaac Forrest Collins. Collins. The family also included two other sons, John R. and Kenneth H. Myers. At the time of the April 1930 census, the family lived at 327 Mechanic Street in Camden, they later moved to 249 Chestnut Street.  

Private Myers entered the Army on September 7, 1944. Sent to Italy, he saw duty in Italy with the 351st Infantry Regiment, 88th Infantry Division. On July 15, 1944, Private Myers was severely wounded, and his right leg was amputated above the knee. Private Myers was discharged, but took ill from complications related to the loss of his leg. He was taken to the Philadelphia Naval Hospital where he died on November 30, 1945.   

John Myers was survived by his parents, brothers, and step-brothers.
