White Street

WHITE STREET is a one-block long street that runs parallel to and east of West Street in South Camden, between Beckett Street and Line Street. The street does not appear on the 1885 Sanborn Map of Camden, but the 1891 edition shows the street with 13 two-story brick row houses standing, numbered from 625 to 637. The 1891 map indicates that 637 was built as a store. It retained that function through at least 1950. In later years 625 White Street was converted into a corner grocery.

Do you have a White Street memory or picture. Let me know by e-mail so it can be included here.

White Street is in this map mislabeled as a two-block long street, the northern block in actuality is Avon Street.
