Warnock Place

WARNOCK PLACE is a small court where homes once stood, running west from South 8th Street between Sycamore Street and Kaighn Avenue. It was name after Dr. William Warnock, a physician lived and practiced medicine at 751 Kaighn Avenue. Dr. Warnock was born in Burlington in 1858, graduated from medical school in 1880 and established a practice in Camden in 1883. He was affiliated with the Camden City Dispensary, and was appointed physician for the Fifth and Sixth Wards in 1886. Sadly Dr. Warnock died of pulmonary tuberculosis in Burlingtom on February 1, 1889. Warnock Place first appears in City Directories in 1890 and on Sanborn Maps in 1891. The little street had ten brick row homes, five on each side, and a fire hydrant at the west end of the street.

Do you have an Warnock Place memory or picture. Let me know by e-mail so it can be included here.
