RINGGOLD STREET was a small street that ran from 1074 Line Street south for one block to 1131 Pine Street. It was the third street east of Haddon Avenue between Line and Pine Streets, coming after Perry Street and Jane Street. Ringgold Street first appear in the 1888-1889 Camden City Directory, the only listing being that of Patrick McBride, who lived and was operating a saloon at 707 Ringgold. By 1890 houses also stood at 711 and 713 Ringgold Street, and in time the lots at 709, 715, 717 and 719 were built on. Camden City Directories show that there were still homes on Ringgold Street as late as 1947. By the 1960s Ringgold Street and all of Line Street east of St. Mihiel Street, including Perry Street and Jane Street had been razed and paved over to provide parking for Campbell Soup's corporate headquarters. |
