I wasn't really sure where to put this story.... I need to do a page about Charlie Grip's outdoor arena in  Pennsauken, near the Airport Circle which stood about where the Howard Hill furniture store has been located for many years. Besides wrestling, there also were boxing shows there.... Jersey Joe Walcott was featured there now and again. There was a dog track at the site for one year in the mid-1930s as well, long before horse racing came to the area with the advent of Garden State Park.

In any event, this story shows that people haven't changed all that much. It also mentions Joseph Ruttenberg, who had a business at 428 Kaighn Avenue for many years.

SPORTS FANS AUTOS SMASHED, ROBBED, SPRAYED WITH ACID
Machines Under Guard Near Arena But 20 Owners Find Them Plundered
LITTLE LEFT OF ONE CAR

Widespread complaints of thieves who loot parked automobiles were climaxed early yesterday when a score of motorists attending the wrestling matches at the Pennsauken Arena found their cars had been robbed or damaged.

Clocks, hub caps, window shades, cigar lighters, radiator caps, door handles and even fenders and a roof were stolen.

In some cases acid had been sprayed over the door handles by the vandals.

Joseph Ruttenberg, Camden merchant of 428 Kaighn Avenue, reported to police at the scene that his windshield had been broken and door handles sprayed with acid.

Joseph Charles, 1207 Newton Avenue, said the thieves left him just enough to drive his car home. The entire top of his roadster, the windshield and the radiator cap were stolen.

Three unidentified women motorists complained of tools being stolen from their machines.

Most of the reports were made to special officers guarding the cars, parked along Kaighn Avenue, near Cooper River.
