JOHN S. BAJ JR. was born in Philadelphia around 1903. He learned the mortician's trade from his father, John S. Baj Sr., who owned his own funeral home. John S. Baj Jr. married around 1928. By 1927 he and wife Anna had come to Camden NJ. By 1929 they owned a funeral home at 1303 South 10th Street, across the street from the predominantly Polish St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. A son, also named John, had been born to the couple.

John S. Baj continued in business on South 10th Street through the 1930s. He died around December of 1940. His widow, Anna Baj remained in business for a time, but by 1947 had closed her shop.
