HARRY B. ANTHONY was born in Philadelphia in 1849, and came to Camden at the age of 5 with his family. At the age of 23 he opened up a crockery business, Anthony's China Hall. In 1876 he made his father manager of the business, and went into the shoe manufacturing business. By the mid 1880s he had a factory turning out 4,000 pairs of shoes a week, and shipping to all points in the nation.
