JOSEPH HERBERT JORDAN was born on March 14, 1873. He married Josephine Lowden in the early 1890s, and the couple were blessed with a daughter, Bessie, in 1894. The 1900 Census shows the family living in Beverly, New Jersey. Joseph H. Jordan worked as a butcher to support his family.

The Jordans moved to Camden in the mid-1900s, first appearing in City Directories in 1908 at 542 North 8th Street, where they resided through 1913. By the time the 1914 Camden City Directory was compiled, the family had moved to 804 Birch Street. Asecond daughter, Ruth, was born around 1914. The Jordan's stayed at 804 Birch Street into 1920. That year they moved a few doors east, to 812 Birch Street.

In 1915 Joseph H. Jordan opened up a meat market at 643 North 9th Street. He remained at this location into 1921, when he opened up at a new location, 524 North 8th Street, the corner of North 8th and Birch Streets, a stones throw from his home.

Survived by his wife and children, Joseph H. Jordan passed away on November 18, 1936. He was buried at Monument Cemetery in Beverly, New Jersey. His wife joined himn in 1960.
