FRANK H. SMITH was born in Pleasantville NJ to Benjamin and Margaret Smith around 1860. His father was one of Camden's first policemen, and later made his living as a ship's carpenter. At the time of the 1880 census, the Smith family was living at 243 Kaighn Avenue in Camden. Frank Smith, the oldest child then at home, had taken up the shoemaker's trade. He went into the wholesale banana business around 1885, this would become his main activity after 1891. His wife having passed away in 1913, he moved to Audubon NJ to stay with his daughter Mattie and her husband Harry Blake. 

After retiring in 1925, he went to Florida for two years before returning to Audubon. Frank Smith passed away in Audubon NJ on May 14, 1935. He was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Camden NJ.
