PRIVATE JOSEPH J. BOLLINGER JR was born in New Jersey in 1924 to Joseph and Cressa Bollinger. The Bollingers had both emigrated from Hungary, and had met and wed in America around 1916. In 1930 the elder Bollinger worked as a silk dye helper in the dye industry. Joseph Bollinger Jr. was their fourth child, coming after sisters Mary and Cressa, and brother John. The family lived at 94 Geneva Avenue in Westmont NJ. Joseph Bollinger had worked for the Coca Cola Bottling Company before the Army called for him early in 1943.
Private Joseph J. Bollinger was killed in action during the battle for Cherbourg on June 25, 1944. He was survived by his parents, of the Westmont address.
