CAPTAIN GILBERT L. WARE  was born in 1900 in Pennsylvania. He was the eldest son of Edward M. and Margaret F. Ware. His father ran a printing business. In 1920 both Gilbert and his brother, Marc Kendall Ware were working in the printing business as well, and the Ware family lived on Hamilton Avenue in Haddonfield NJ. He also had a younger sister, Helen Ware. 

Gilbert Ware married in 1926, and by 1930 had bought a home at 115 Wesley Avenue in Collingswood NJ, with his wife Dorothy. He was employed as a salesman in the printing industry.

Captain Gilbert L. Ware died while serving as an officer in the United States Army during World War II. 

Mrs. Dorothy Ware became a charter member of the Camden County Chapter of the Gold Star Wives of World War II in November of 1947.
